Oooo... a Parker 51 set found for $18 at an antique mall. And it works! |
Just remember, it isn't pen prn if it is out of focus. |
Yeah, it is a little frou-frou, but who cares? It screams 1950 and would look at home in a Cadillac glove box. |
Sorry I have been MIA, but Vintage Tech Obsessions at least has a sketchy pulse :-) And if you are at all curious as to where I have been since the beginning of the year, here is a small sampling from my Google+ stream.

Welcome back, i enjoyed this post as well as the photos.
ReplyDeleteLove those pens, great pics too. :)
ReplyDeleteI used the Parker at work today. So smooth. I can see why it is a cult classic.
DeleteMany great photos, I especially love the street shot in Chicago. I've always been too nervous to take pictures featuring people like that, though I love photographing in cities.
ReplyDeleteI generally go for stealth with a small camera. There are two schools of thought on street photography - one involves engaging people and doing portraits. I'm of the school that treats the streets like a like a wild place in which the photographer should not change the behavior of the subject.
DeleteMy God, is that an Edsel? Great photos, especially the roller derby gals. And nice score on the Parker '51.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we have Edsels and all kinds of oddities in middle America. Thanks for the comment on the photos. The derby shots were taken during a G+ Blur and Unsharp Mentorhship program. It started with pans to get intentional blur and then I put some images through the Stackables app for iPad. It was fun experimentation.
DeleteGood to see you back among your tribe. Stay on target, as Gold Leader says (:
ReplyDeleteAh, but I have so many tribes to pick from (and attempt to keep up with!). I did daily typewriter journals during family vacation time but never got around to maintaining the blog :-( I have a few machines and typefaces that need to get out in the wild. It may be post Christmas before I have time to do it right.
DeleteGood to see you're back. Nice Parker 51! The price is even better.
ReplyDeleteThe Parker is smooth as butter! I used it quite a bit today and I am genuinely shocked at how well it is doing. The flow is even and it isn't prone to skipping. I have it loaded with Noodler's V-Mail Midway Blue at the moment. That has been a very reliable ink. My wife and I are both partial to a special run called DC Supershow Blue.
