Princess Doesn't Live Here Anymore (A Bummer Typecast)

My wife and I were out for a walk around the neighborhood and encountered a sorry sight by the curb.  This would fall in the "abandoned" category.

I felt sorry for this stuffed animal.
This little bear is the saddest thing I've seen in a long time.  She was face down in the gutter, but I thought she deserved to see the sun before her long journey to the landfill.  Our neighborhood is prowled by Jawas, so there is always a slim chance that someone picked up Anabelle and took her home.

    1. The neighborhood detritus combers (aka: The Jawas) surprise me with the stuff they take away.

  2. Aww, what a pity this couldn't have been offered up on freecycle or Craigslist before ending up on the curb! Or perhaps it was and no one wanted it? Even sadder.

    1. Actually, it was your image of the Christmas trees by the curb that inspired me to look through recent photos of abandonment. Poor, little Annabelle bear. I have a collection of decay photos that needs to get updated on my Fotki site.

We have multiple thrift shops within easy driving distance. But we live in a throwaway society. I won't post the photo of the over sized teddy bear hanging halfway out of a roller trash bin. That might trigger a wave of Typosphere depression.

  3. So many things can be easily hauled to Goodwill or the Salvation Army stores or even Free Cycled, but it is easier to just toss it to the garbage collectors I guess. Discarded toys and such are a sad reminder that childhood ends.

    1. Yes, children grow up. Our oldest starts high school next year and that feels very strange. She wants to repaint her room something more teenish this summer. Little does she know that in in just a few years, it will be converted into hobby space ;-)

    1. Guess I should have warned that it was a "double" bummer. I have a fascination with abandoned things. I'll try to find a happier topic in the near future. I've been collecting lots of images of black velvet art...

  5. Please, don't cry! If a flaky seller I have been dealing with comes through, I'll have something special to blog about, soon.
