A blog about all kinds of vintage technology from simple mechanisms of the late 1800s through electronics and robotics of the 1980s. Many posts will be typecast and some will be off topic bits from everyday life. The blog will wander and meander with my quasi-evolving and ever changing interests.

All That Glitters...
Just a teaser for a new arrival that still needs a proper cleaning :)
It would be the man with the Smith Corona obsession that successfully identifies the machine. It's one of the early production models with green shift keys. However, the plating is vintage and it most definitely is not chrome :)
Cleaning this bad boy will be interesting. The plating condition is generally good, but it has some kind of polish that held bubble wrap impressions in spots. High touch areas have a bit of pitting that is to be expected. I took a chance on an auction with not-so-great photos and was the only bidder (surprised). The case is old school wood with black covering and neither it nor the machine have basement or attic funk.
Everything works and it feels like it will be a dreamy typing machine :)
...is not gold. (but it might be silver :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! All will be revealed :)
DeleteMmm! Pretty! I am not sure what that is. Royal, Smith-Corona ... ?
ReplyDeleteOne or the other. I knew you would be among the first in the detail game :)
DeleteIt's a Super-5, chromed by Antikeychop?
